Puerto Varas is a small Chilean town, located in the Lake District on the shores of Lake Llanquihue. It was founded by German immigrants who settled here around 1852. The city is known for its relation to tourism, offering beautiful landscapes, good food, beaches and national parks.

Day 2: ANCUD, CHILE
Morning:
Breakfast. Start of the adventure. In special equipped vehicles for the journey, the expedition starts from Puerto Varas to the south.
Departure to Chiloé Island. After an hour driving along Pan-American road we reach the Chacao channel crossing by ferry to the island. Chiloe Island is considered one of the enclaves of biodiversity on the planet by Conservation International, an area of 9,181 square km
Afternoon:
Visit Puñihuil penguin colony. Typical lunch (seafood).
Islets of Puñihuil and fishing cove of the same name provide shelter and nesting points for two species of penguin: Humboldt and Magellan. Puñihuil is the only sector of the Pacific where both varieties are in perfect harmony coexisting with otters, seals, cormorants, Carancas, and dozens of birds forming a huge environmental heritage.

Day 3: CASTRO, CHILE
Morning:
Breakfast. Departure to Chiloé National Park. A day of exploration and hiking along the Pacific Ocean.
This park is situated in the western sector of the Isla Grande de Chiloé, an extension of the dismembered Cordillera de la Costa. The park has an area of 43,057 ha. The climate is humid and mild, allowing the existence of the evergreen forest, which consists consisting mainly of olivillo, coigüe, luma, myrtle, tepu and larch, the latter grows only at the 600 meters. The fauna consists of Chiloe fox, sea wolf, mountain monkey, otter, opossum, pudu, diuca and Patagonian carpenter. Some of these species are endemic.

Day 4: PARQUE TANTAUCO, CHILE
Morning:
Breakfast. Departure to Tantauco Park. The flora of the park presents species such as cypress of Guaitecas and coastal Olivillo, and fauna like huillín, Chiloe fox and the blue whale. With our 4x4 vehicles, we will go through rustic roads of difficult access into the northern entrance of the park in the southern island of Chiloé. From Lake Chaiguata we will walk for four hours through forests and rivers to Lake Chaiguaco, sleeping in a shelter that will bring us back a century in time accompanied only by well-preserved nature.

Day 5: CASTRO, CHILE
Morning:
Breakfast in camp.
Hike to Lake Chaiguata and return to Castro

City tour in Castro: Church, stilt houses, craft fair. A walking tour that leads us to the history and lifestyle of a community linked to the sea

Day 6: LAGO YELCHO, CHILE
Morning:
Very early breakfast
9:00 start crossing by ferry to Chaiten. Snack
Afternoon:
17:00 arrival in Chaiten, where we continue the expedition through the Patagonian Andes, following the Carretera Austral. Box lunch

Day 7: LAGO YELCHO, CHILE
Morning:
Breakfast. Full day of fishing for wild rainbow trout, brown and brook. In February, fishing for Chinook salmon (some over 25 kg).
We will fish in different areas where reeds abound, flowing rivers and streams. Extraordinary sectors like Bahía Leones, the river Yelcho Chico, Correntoso sector and the mouth of the Rio Futaleufu. We continue down the river fishing in various pools. It is a sight to see the trout jumping out of emerald backwaters and always accompanied by professional guides.

Day 8: FUTALEUFU, CHILE
Morning:
Breakfast
Departure to Futaleufu. We leave the Lake Yelcho making our way to the south on the Carretera Austral to reach Villa Santa Lucia where we divert to the east to Futaleufu. Lunch in Futaleufu
Afternoon:
Rafting the Futaleufu or Espolón river depending on water conditions. These rivers are famous for being considered the best in the world for kayaking and rafting.

Day 9: FUTALEUFU, CHILE
Morning:
Breakfast. Horseback ride all day. We visit various beautiful native forests and streams flowing into the Futaleufu. During the course of this ride, the guide will tell us about the arrival of the first settlers from Argentina. For lunch, there will be a typical meal at country home of one of the settlers. We ride around this area where people produce cheese and vegetables or we just take time appreciating the beautiful scenery and resting before going back.
In the late afternoon bikes are ready for those who still have energy to ride around the town.

Day 10: EL BOLSON, ARGENTINA
Morning:
Breakfast. Departure to El Bolsón, Argentina. We cross the Andes towards the town of Trevelín, changing the landscape of abrupt and wooded Chile to Argentinean Pampa. From there, we take Route 40 to the north arriving at noon to the tiny town of El Bolsón, located in the province of Río Negro surrounded by mountains, forests, rivers and lakes. Ski resorts and wide range of activities during the summer are placed in this Patagonian town.
Afternoon:
After settling in our B & B or cabin, we will meet our friends from across the Andes who will accompany us for a nice trekking

Day 11: BARILOCHE, ARGENTINA
Morning:
Breakfast. During the morning we head for Bariloche, a city located in the Patagonian Andes, known as the tourist capital of Patagonian Argentina which is famous for its natural beauty and architecture.
We will have a box lunch in route arriving during the afternoon to our comfortable cabin.
Once we have rested and recovered energy, we will go to Cerro Cathedral (famous ski resort) and on the way to the top cable car we enjoy the beautiful view of Lake Nahuel Huapi

Day 12: BARILOCHE, ARGENTINA
Morning:
After a restful sleep and a good breakfast, we will have the opportunity to discover this nice city where you can enjoy hot chocolate as we pass through its streets full of shops with different offerings to suit all tastes.
Afternoon:
For lunch we will go to Nahuel Huapi National Park for a BBQ in the middle of nature where we can share all the special moments of this journey in the south of the world

Day 13: PUERTO VARAS, CHILE
Morning:
After a good breakfast we begin our journey back to Puerto Varas, enjoying a nice road along Lake Nahuel Huapi. Before crossing the border you will have time for lunch (not included) in the small town of Villa la Angostura, also named as the Garden of Patagonia
Afternoon:
We will continue our journey to Puerto Varas crossing Puyehue National Park on the Chilean side. In the afternoon we will leave you free so you can tour the city and visit the attractions that surround it.
